Art Jakarta 2019

ISA Art & Design At Art Jakarta 2019

Indonesia’s biggest art fair Art Jakarta will open its doors to the public on the weekend of Friday 30th August to Sunday 1st of September in its new home, the Jakarta Convention Centre. Following its rebranding, its wide expansion of programs and interactive spaces comes back with Art Jakarta Spot, Scene, Play and a Charity Auction that is supported by Indonesian artists, Agugn, Indieguerillas, Mella Jaarsma, Darbotz, Marishka Soekarna, Kemal Azzedine, Darbotz, Cinanti Astria Johansjah, Uji ‘Hahan’ Handoko, Ronald Apriyan, Arkiv Vilmansa, Faisal Habibi, Radi Arwinda and Natisa Jones.

At the fair, ISA Art + Design highlights a curated selection of renowned and emerging female artists of the region that have substantially attracted recognition in the region and global art world. The works of Arahmaiani, Audya Amelia, Chong Siew Ying, Ines Katamso, Kumari Nahappan, Melati Suryodarmo and Sinta Tantra. Titled 'H.E.R', the exhibition will shine a spotlight towards the position of women artists in the male dominated industry, dating back to the historical significance and the evolution of female artists that grew during the 20th century feminist art movement. The selected artworks featured at the booth accentuate the feminine touch behind them and the topics that arise in between female artists that come from the Southeast Asian region. ‘H.E.R’ also neutralizes the idea of feminist art that centralizes the idea of artworks made by women to be limited to one category. There is not one female artist but art shapes itself through tradition, background, common beliefs and the shared interests that is projected into the varied mediums.

An extension of 'Square One' from Art Moments 2019 that took place in May earlier this year will also make a comeback at Art Jakarta 2019, with an additional collection of artworks by A.D Pirous, Ahmad Sadali, FX Harsono, Dede Eri Supria, Heri Dono, and Yunizar. Early works that marked their first stepping-stone for which they are known, the groundwork of their thought, imagery, collage, composition and a mixture of media that distinguish their artistic identity will be exhibited at the ISA Art + Design Booth C7, Art Jakarta 2019.

The public can go ahead and purchase their tickets at Traveloka or at Art Jakarta's website.
