ISA, together with our distinguished artists A. Sebastianus and Rose Cameron have donated their works to the "Gallery Benefit 2023 Auction" hosted at the National Gallery Singapore which will take place on 17 November 2023.
The artwork "#72" by A. Sebastianus, is part of the series MASA – KALA in which the artist draws inspiration from Javanese measurements of time, in this body of work each weaving represents a calculated movement of periods through counting each thread.
"Sumpa Kita" by Rose Cameron, recollects her childhood experiences in her native country through her storytelling, Sumpa Kita (I Promise You) artwork pays tribute to the Filipino folklore of the national flower Sampaguita highlighting the tragic love story.
We would like to invite you to bid for these artworks online via Phillip’s Auctioneer’s website http://bit.ly/49z50no. Your generous support will promote the National Gallery’s activities in Singapore, but also fund artists' endeavors to create art and platforms for new stories.
November 4th 2023 - January26th 2024
ISA Art Gallery is presenting “DARI” a solo show by A. Sebastianus Hartono curated by Tan Siuli. This exhibition revisits one of Hartono's ethnographic works on the materialization of the body or being through sacred acts and recollections of ‘from’ also known as ‘dari’. A. Sebastianus Hartanto uses experiential ethnographic research as a prominent intertwining mode of existence. Hartanto’s works explore the decontextualization of material cultures and how it is perceived, understood, and ritualized in practice. ISA Art Gallery aims to debut A. Sebastianus Hartono's works not only as an artist (magician/shaman) but also as an ethnographer (observer) and as a craftsman (practitioner/from the word ‘practice’).
