A Story My Father Heard as A Child (IV), 2019
Acrylic on Canvas
63 x 48 cm
These Jackfruit paintings are her response to a story her father told her about a princess that was not allowed to eat Jackfruits. The story might be a euphemism for stillbirth or grave sickness, but physical distance and chronological distance alters and transforms memory. She will never know what is the actual meaning of this jackfruit story. She mixes her paint palettes in small batches at a time, so that each spikes, an each times she need to mix it, the colour will change ever so slightly, just as the stories.
