THE YEATS SISTERS & IRISH DESIGN: MAKING, IDENTITIES, & LEGACIES: WTC 2, Jakarta

10 February - 7 March 2025
Overview
The Embassy of Ireland presents this exhibition to mark St Brigid's Day, celebrated on February 1st, honouring the creativity and cultural achievements of Irish women, including the Yeats sisters. Several featured pieces come from the Cuala Archive, a treasured collection at the Library of Trinity College Dublin. These finely crafted artifacts remain significant expressions of Ireland’s social, political, and cultural identity. Beyond Ireland, the exhibition also pays tribute to Indonesian women in craft, highlighting batik as a rich artistic tradition. It features batik paintings by Vania Gracia, the award-winning designer of the official Embassy of Ireland batik, depicting figures and scenes from Irish folklore, including Saint Brigid. Her work beautifully merges Irish symbolism with Indonesian craftsmanship. This exhibition celebrates the enduring influence of Irish and Indonesian women in shaping their artistic and cultural heritage
